Terms and Conditions

On receipt of your manuscript or project brief, Brisbane Self Publishing Service will provide a quote proposal for your approval before commencement of any work. Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date sent.

For all professional editing and/or book design services provided by Brisbane Self Publishing Service, a 35% deposit is required upon acceptance of the quote and prior to project commencement. This prerequisite excludes our manuscript appraisal and ebook conversion services where full upfront payment is required

For our Let’s Get Published Framework package projects that encompass all book publishing stages, you will be requested to make a progress payment as per the associated task fee for each publication stage. Details about these task fees are documented in our written quote proposal.

Please note that all our quotes are based on information presented in your original client brief, including current total word count, plus number of images (if applicable) in your draft manuscript. If this information alters significantly prior to commencement or during your project, our original quote will require adjustment. Brisbane Self Publishing Service will then email you an updated fee proposal for your approval before any further work on your project is undertaken.

All rates for professional services include an initial first draft and 1–2 rounds of revisions (a total of one hour per stage) to ensure your final publication is professionally presented and meets your requirements. In the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied after this process, you will agree to pay us for all work completed to date (and forfeit your deposit payment for the publishing project). You may then either cancel your contract or commission us to do further revisions at our normal hourly rate.

All accounts are strictly 7 days. Deposits are to be paid before the commencement of any work and all milestone payment balances owing are due within 7 days of receipt of the associated invoice.

Payment may be made by direct deposit into our bank account or by credit card (by prior arrangement).

Brisbane Self Publishing Service endeavours to provide a complete and accurate service for all projects we undertake; however, we cannot guarantee a 100% error-free document. As a self-publishing author, you are ultimately responsible for reviewing and proofreading all final changes to your book prior to publication. For those authors who decide not to commission us for professional editing/proofreading services, any errors present in your published book are entirely your responsibility.

If you find that there are omissions or discrepancies on receipt of your completed project, they will be rectified without any further charges being incurred.

Brisbane Self Publishing Service will not be held accountable for any legal liabilities incurred in relation to your content or subject matter, or any losses arising from using our service.

While Brisbane Self Publishing Service exercises due diligence regarding preparation of any written and graphic content, you are responsible for all trademark, patent and copyright infringement clearances.

We reserve the right to decline work that contains plagiarised content, or any project involving text which is deemed to be obscene, defamatory or otherwise offensive.

Brisbane Self Publishing Service reserves the right to display your completed project (front and back cover only) as part of our portfolio for promotional purposes (unless you specifically request otherwise). If possible, we would be grateful to receive a complimentary copy of your printed book to showcase at our self-publishing workshops and author consultations.

Until payment for completed work is received in full, Brisbane Self Publishing Service retains copyright of any Adobe InDesign and/or other artwork files we have created for your project. On receipt of your final payment, complete copyright of all associated artwork files passes to you. Please note that in accordance with Australian copyright law, copyright of your own written and/or illustrative content is automatically granted and exists as soo as you express your creation in material form. All our clients retain 100% copyright of their own creative content.

Brisbane Self Publishing Service offers no guarantee that you will successfully sell your book; your sales results will ultimately depend on your own marketing efforts and decisions.

All correspondence and documents exchanged between Brisbane Self Publishing Service and our clients will be treated as confidential, unless consent has been granted by both parties involved.
